One of the Clemson basketball team’s star players took to social media Wednesday with an announcement regarding his future.

Senior guard Chase Hunter said in a post on X (formerly Twitter) that he will go through the NBA Draft process but keep his eligibility, like PJ Hall did last year before deciding to return to Clemson.

“I’ve taken some time to reflect on my career, and I have decided to enter my name into the NBA Draft while maintaining my eligibility,” Hunter wrote.

Hunter played in 36 games (all starts) for the Tigers in 2023-24, averaging 12.9 points, 3.2 assists and 2.6 rebounds per game while shooting 42.4 percent from the field.

In his five seasons with the Tigers, the 6-foot-4, 200-pounder from Atlanta has averaged 9.2 points, 2.6 assists and 2.4 rebounds per game with a 41.2 percent shooting percentage.

“First and foremost I want to thank God for allowing me to be in the position I am today. I also want to thank my family for being by my side through everything,” Hunter wrote in his statement.

“I would like to give a special thank you to Clemson University, and everything that has been done for me through the years. I am very grateful for my time here and it has been the best five years of my life. Thank you to my coaches, teammates, and fans for staying with me through this long journey!”

A former four-star and top-100 prospect for the 2019 recruiting class, Hunter played a pivotal role in Clemson’s March Madness run this season, averaging 17.8 points, 5.8 assists and 4.3 rebounds in the NCAA Tournament to help the Tigers advance to the Elite Eight for the first time since 1980.
