Volunteer’s Strickler returns to gridiron
CHURCH HILL — For the first time in more than a decade, Volunteer’s Jackie Strickler will be back on the sidelines for football season. The veteran softball coach has stepped in as an assistant on interim head coach Mike Castle’s football staff for the 2024 season. Strickler joins assistants Jeremy Jones, Wes Bowery, Josh Kincannon and Jeremy Sommers to round out Castle’s staff. Volunteer alumnus Joshua Sawyer will also help out in a non-faculty role. The Hawkins County Commission honored the Volunteer High School boys and girls track teams Monday for their state championship meet successes, including state titles and all-state honors, this past spring.
