Bristol woman accused of stealing multiple packages arrested
BRISTOL, Tenn. (WCYB) — A Bristol woman accused of stealing multiple packages has been arrested, according to the Sullivan County Sheriff's Office. Authorities said a resident of Lindas Way in Bristol reported to the sheriff's office on November 22 that a package delivered earlier that day had been stolen from the porch of the victim's home. Deputies responded and obtained photos of the suspect, an older female, driving a silver Honda car, from surveillance footage.
Police investigate after Body found in Johnson City camper fire
Numerous agencies responded to a structure fire Tuesday on Fleming Road in Johnson City and now police are investigating after human remains were found. According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, officers responded to a camper fire in the 100 block of Fleming Road. During an investigation, deputies found human remains inside the camper. The body has not been identified and has been sent for autopsy. The cause of the blaze is under investigation.

BRISTOL, Tenn. (WCYB) — A nightclub and music venue is now closed. According to a Facebook post, Sidetracks on West State Street is closing permanently. Fire damages Pizza Hut in Bristol TN Tuesday
Firefighters responded to a structure fire at the Pizza Hut on Volunteer Parkway around 3:30 Tuesday afternoon. According to Bristol, TN Fire Department, a total of nine units and 22-firefighters responded. The blaze took about 15 minutes to extinguish. Authorities said the fire seems to have been electrical and started between exterior and interior walls in the front of the restaurant.
Food City Stores in Tennessee to Become Hub for Advanced Plastics Recycling
Food City has partnered with Eastman, a global specialty materials company, to bring additional plastic-recycling options to the Appalachian Highlands region. The partnership will enable shoppers to drop off their plastic waste at designated collection bins that will be located at three Food City stores beginning in early 2024 in Kingsport, Tenn., where Eastman has its headquarters. The collected plastic will be sorted and processed at Eastman’s new mixed-plastics processing facility, part of the new molecular recycling plant that, according to the company, is the largest material-to-material recycling facility in the world, scheduled to be completed around the end of 2023.
Bristol TN West State Street corridor study completed
The City of Bristol, Tennessee and the national organization WSP, or William Sales Partnership, have finished the corridor study of West State Street. The study was funded by a TDOT grant . The project analyzed roadways from the western edge of the city limits up to Volunteer Parkway. On Tuesday evening, WSP presented the results from the study to the city council at a monthly work session. The study also held public meetings that allowed citizens to participate in discussion sessions about how to improve the corridor. Information from the last public meeting will be presented to the city council next week. The council will vote on whether or not to adopt the study results at their next meeting on Dec. 5. The corridor study report can be found on the city’s website.
