(WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Illinois tollway officials are warning about a financial scam that may be targeting you via text message.

Tollway officials advise anyone with an I-PASS to ignore any text messages they may get indicating they owe a specific toll amount.

Officials said the texts are part of a phishing scam to make you think you owe for unpaid tolls. Do not click on any link in the text.

If you’re unsure if you may owe for unpaid tolls, check your IPASS account online or call the toll authority customer service center.

You can report these texts to ic3.gov , a website that shares internet scams with a number of law enforcement agencies.
