NASCAR Bringing the Heat to Chicago
For the first time in the history of NASCAR, they will hold a motor racing event inside a major metropolitan area. The “Windy City” will be hosting the NASCAR Cup Series Street Race in downtown Chicago; the NASCAR Chicago Street Race weekend will be held on July 1 & 2. The Cup Series Race is aptly named “Grant Park 220” and will be a 220-mile race with 100 laps, and the Xfinity Series Race is called “The Loop 121” will be a 121 mile with 55 laps. The course will take drivers onto the roads of Lake Shore Drive, Michigan Avenue, and Columbus Drive, driving them around Grant Park and all along Lake Michigan.

Family day for youth outreach program at Wrigley Field
CHICAGO (CBS)-- Some local families will be spending this Memorial Day at Wrigley Field for a family fun day.Families involved in MLB's youth outreach program Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities are invited to the friendly confines Monday. The organization, which has been around since 1989, works to get kids involved in the sport and spread joy.Coach Chris Thompson, manager of youth baseball and softball for Cubs charities. "It was reviving baseball in the inner city. Baseball and softball is an expensive sport," He said. "We're trying to break down barriers and alleviate all those so kids don't have to pay to play."Players from several teams and their families are spending time together. Then, they'll watch the Cubs take on the Tampa Bay Rays at 1:20 p.m.

CHICAGO -- Minnesota Aurora FC shut out a second straight opponent and continued their scoring frenzy with a 4-0 win over Chicago Dutch Lions Saturday.Aurora scored three of its goals in the first half, then added the fourth in the 89th minute. "Starting games as strong as we can is huge," said Maya Hansen. "We're catching teams on their heels as much as we can. We've emphasized picking our moment about when to go forward." A Chicago ballpark the first in the country to install stop the bleed kits
Wrigley Field now has more than 20 bleeding control kits along the walls of the ball park. The kits include a tourniquet, gauze and trauma shears to cut through clothing. Staff at Wrigley have been trained on how to stop the bleed. The American College of Surgeons says bleeding is the number on cause of death after injury. The city of Chicago has over 300 kits available across the city, just recently a security guard used the kits after two children were injured in a shooting outside a West Garfield park library.

That sunny Monday afternoon on May 22 was a special day that Kenwood Academy will never forget as their baseball team captured its first Chicago Public League title in school history. The 27 - 4 Broncos went on to defeat Walter Payton College Prep in a tight 2 - 0 victory at Guaranteed Rate Field.
Alabama softball in weather delay during super regional Game 3 vs. Northwestern
