VIDEO: Group believed to have recently committed 13 armed robberies in single day on West, NW Sides

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - The CPD has issued a community alert regarding a series of street robberies on the West and Northwest Sides believed to have been committed by the same crew.

There were more than a dozen armed robberies committed on Saturday, March 16.

Police have compiled video from surveillance cameras, showing some of the incidents.

Sometimes there are five people, dressed in all black, wearing ski masks.
They’re armed with rifles and handguns.

They hop out of a car and rob people on the street. There’s little the victims can do.

These incidents occurred mostly during daylight hours, specifically in the late morning and early afternoon, sometimes minutes apart.

They occurred in the 14th, 16th and 25th Police Districts.

Police said one robbery happened in the 26000 block of W. Fletcher Ave. on March 14, at around 7:40 p.m.

The other 13 robberies occurred on March 16 at these locations:

1600 block of North Linder Ave.
1700 block of North Lotus Ave.
4200 block of West Armitage Ave.
2300 block of North Springfield Ave.
2800 block of North Harding Ave.
2300 block of North Lawndale Ave.
2000 block of North Campbell Ave.
2600 block of North Mozart St.
2600 block of North Spaulding Ave.
4800 block of West Hutchinson Ave.
2900 block of North Ridgeway Ave.
2700 block of West George Street.
2700 block of North Lawndale Ave.
