Step inside for the latest on several 2025 prospects on Mississippi State’s radar in football and basketball along with transfer targets:

First Biscuit – Starting the day with basketball and the transfer portal, I still haven’t confirmed if Mississippi State will have any official visitors this weekend and we should know that answer as the weekend draws closer. As noted often, Mississippi State’s top remaining priority is finding a starting center from the transfer portal and the main target, per sources, continues to be Vanderbilt transfer Ven-Allen Lubin . Still no word yet if and when Lubin will schedule any official visits. I talked to North Carolina sources on Wednesday about the Tar Heels’ interest in Lubin, as well. While North Carolina has some interest, my source noted that there’s other frontcourt transfers on their board and so far, it is too early to gauge how serious the interest is.

Second Biscuit – Staying with basketball and catching up with 2025 guard and On3 four-star prospect JR Leonard , he helped lead Riverwood (Ga.) High School to the Final Four of the Class 6A playoffs this past season and averaged 24.4 points, 5.6 rebounds and 2.0 assists a game. Now playing AAU ball with Anthony Edwards 5, Leonard said his game is more versatile this offseason and he also wants to keep putting his teammates in good position to score. Leonard holds offers from Tennessee, Mississippi State, Georgia and Wake Forest among others, and took unofficial visits to Mississippi State and Tennessee last year. He noted of the success head coach Chris Jans has had at Mississippi State and believes the Bulldogs are an underrated team in the SEC. Leonard said he may start taking official visits later in the summer and does not have a decision timeframe set.

Third Biscuit – Moving to football recruiting, on Wednesday I talked with 2025 offensive lineman and On3 three-star prospect Harrison Cluff of Columbia High School. Cluff said he has summer official visits set for Purdue, Memphis and Baylor, and said that Purdue, Baylor, Houston and Memphis are recruiting him the hardest right now. Cluff noted that Mississippi State offensive line coach Cody Kennedy came to his school last week to watch Cluff in spring ball and said Kennedy is returning next week (Monday) to evaluate him further in spring ball. We will see how that goes but it sounds like Cluff is getting closer to earning a Mississippi State offer. Cluff mentioned that he wants to make his college decision sometime in July and wants to follow the path that God has for him and take a long look at these coaches recruiting him to see which ones could develop him the best.

Fourth Biscuit – On Wednesday, I did more checking on 2025 defensive lineman prospect London Simmons of Hartfield Academy. Simmons continues to blow up on the recruiting trail and of late, he has collected Power 5 offers from LSU and N.C. State after getting an Alabama offer late last month. Hartfield Academy has a very talented roster and his teammate and 2025 athlete Kenzy West is also adding several Power 5 offers, of late. Of course, 2025 defensive lineman Reginald Vaughn is also on that Hartfield team and he already owns several Power 5 offers, as well. We know that Mississippi State coaches are making their rounds in the state this month with the evaluation period and I imagine they will be at Hartfield Academy soon. And when that happens, sources expect the Bulldogs to also extend an offer to Simmons.

And for the gravy on top – And lastly on Wednesday, I exchanged some messages with 2025 defensive back prospect Stephen Miller of Greene County (Ga.) High School. He holds several SEC offers including Mississippi State, LSU, Arkansas and Tennessee, and said he has summer official visits now set for Mississippi State (June 14-16), West Virginia and Kansas. He is being recruited as a cornerback by Mississippi State but he also has the frame to play safety in the defensive backfield. I plan to talk more with Miller later this week but so far, it sounds like Mississippi State is a serious option for Miller.
