Driver killed in four-vehicle collision in Lexington County

LEXINGTON, S.C. (WIS) - A driver died and another was injured in a four-vehicle collision on North Lake Drive near Pilgrim Church Road on Nov. 6. The collision happened at about 10:20 a.m., according to South Carolina Highway Patrol. Dawn Staley at a Clemson men’s basketball game ... as a fan? Yes, you read that correctly. The Gamecocks’ three-time national champion women’s basketball coach made the short trip from Columbia to Clemson on Friday night to cheer on one of her godsons from enemy territory. Staley was at Littlejohn Coliseum supporting Madden Collins, a sophomore guard at American University, Clemson’s Friday opponent. Madden Collins is the son of Ariana Moore, who played four years under Staley at Temple and currently works as Staley’s director of basketball operations at South Carolina. The ACC Network Extra broadcast of the game showed Staley sitting in a regular seating section at Clemson’s arena wearing a gray American University hoodie. Madden Collins finished with a team-high 23 points on 10-20 shooting in American’s 82-73 loss at Clemson. The Eagles, a mid-major team based in Washington, D.C. that competes in the Patriot League, only trailed the Tigers 39-34 at halftime.
