A north-central Iowa farmer says her 2026 harvest is exceeding expectations. April Hemmes of Hampton tells Brownfield, “I’m on corn now. I did finish soybeans,” she said. “Best beans ever. Tech giant unveils more plans for its proposed Palo data center
Google is revealing more details about its proposed data center near the Duane Arnold nuclear plant. The tech giant hosted a community open house in Palo last night. Company officials say the data center would bring $170-million of tax revenue to Palo, Linn County and the Cedar Rapids School District over 20 years.

Progressive Rail Inc. (PR) recently acquired the Iowa Traction Railroad, which operates about 10.5 to 11 miles of track between Mason City and Clear Lake, Iowa. PR renamed the short line the Iowa Traction Railway Co. and partnered with the railroad's former owners, says PR President Dave Fellon, adding that employees were retained.
