A motor vehicle chase last night that started in Dodge County and ended in Goodhue County resulted in the self-inflicted shooting death of the driver of the suspect car.

Cannon Falls police say multiple law enforcement agencies were at the scene when the man driving the car stopped at the parking lot of the city's hospital.

The man did not follow commands from officers, displayed a gun, and then shot himself.

Police say there were no shots fired by law enforcement officers, but the Minnesota BCA was asked to assist in a conflict-of-interest investigation.

It's not known why the man shot himself.

The Dodge County sheriff's office says the chase started after a West Concord police officer was hit by a moving car during a traffic stop.

A witness reportedly followed the suspect car before Dodge County sheriff's deputies began their pursuit.

The West Concord police officer is recovering from injuries at a hospital in Owatonna.
