Corning Lions honor WGI with highest award. How track, club work together for community
The Corning Lions Club has volunteered for the past 18 years at WGI events, while the track has contributed $250,000 to support other volunteer causes. Teamwork from the Corning Lions Club and Watkins Glen International has made race weekends possible for hundreds of visitors to the Schuyler County track, and improved the lives of many Corning residents as well.
NY school board votes set to take place May 21st
SOUTHERN TIER, N.Y. (WENY) -- New York schools are set to open their doors to voters on May 21st to weigh in on the 2024-2025 budgets. In the Elmira City School District, doors are open from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. People living North of the Chemung River can vote at Ernie Davis Academy at 933 Hoffman Street. People living South of Chemung River vote at Elmira High School at 777 S. Main Street. The proposed final budget is $150,716,226. There is no tax levy increase in the 2024-2025 budget, the tax levy is staying the same at 2.84%. 3 seats need to be filled on the board of education.
