    Law enforcement memorial service to be held in Bath

    BATH, N.Y. ( WETM ) — A ceremony honoring fallen law enforcement officers from the region will be held in Bath on Friday.

    The Steuben County Sheriff’s Office announced that the Ninth Annual Law Enforcement Memorial Service will be held at the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office Memorial Park, located at 7007 Rumsey Street Extension in Bath, at 6 p.m. on May 17. The public is invited to this memorial to remember officers, deputies, and troopers who lost their lives in the line of duty and support their families.

    This ceremony will include a reading of the Roll of Honor, which includes the names of all members of law enforcement who have fallen in the line of duty from Steuben, Allegany, Chemung, Livingston, Ontario, Schuyler, and Yates counties. Additionally, the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office Honor Guard will present the colors and the Corning American Legion and VFW Ceremonial Drill Team will give a 21-gun salute.

    Music honoring the fallen at this service will include a performance of Taps, Amazing Grace played on bagpipes, and a student from Hammondsport singing the National Anthem. Congressman Nick Langworthy, Former Congressman Joe Sempolinski, Assemblyman Phil Palmesano, Assemblywoman Marjorie Byrnes, Steuben Legislative Chair Kelly Fitzpatrick, and Sheriff Jim Allard will speak at the ceremony.
