The Food City grocery store on McGrady Drive in Cleveland, Tennessee reopens Wednesday following a sweeping remodel and expansion that added a Starbucks café, a sushi bar and dozens of new jobs to the south Cleveland location. Traffic signal to be added at Athens intersection

The City of Athens Public Works Department has announced the installation of a new traffic signal in town. Contractor crews are working on installing a new traffic signal at the intersection of Old Riceville Road and West Madison Avenue. The affected area includes the intersections of Old Riceville Road at W. Madison Avenue and Old Riceville Road at Rocky Mount Road. Beginning Tuesday, Nov. 10 at 7 a.m. and continuing until Friday, Nov. 13 at 5 p.m. there will be flaggers present for intermittent lanes closures with traffic down to one lane, and intermittent temporary full closures. There will be no lane closures during school drop off and pick up times. Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes, such as the Dennis Street overpass. Motorists traveling through this area are advised to use extreme caution and watch for traffic signage, workers and pedestrians. Motorists should allow additional travel time due to potential traffic delays in the area. For more information, contact the office of the public works department at 423-744-2745.

Arrest Report: Tennessee Driver Kept Following a Man Home After 911 Advised Him to Stop, Then a Bullet Went Through a Living Room

Luke Roberts, 21, was still on the phone with a Hamilton County 911 dispatcher on Halloween when, according to the sheriff’s office arrest report, the dispatcher advised him to stop following another driver once he had the man’s license plate. Local 3 News, which reported what the arrest report says, writes that Roberts kept following anyway, from Dayton Pike through Retro Hughes Road and Back Valley Road to a home on Fuller Lane in Sale Creek, Tennessee. The Sale Creek shooting began around 5:30 p.m., when the two men exchanged gunfire; one bullet went through the front living room of the house, passing near someone inside.

Driving with drugs worse than driving without a license

They stopped him because they knew his driver’s license was revoked Nov. 2, but they suspected something else might be going on. Monroe County Sheriff’s Detective Dalton Rinehart said and fellow deputy Dalton Townsend stopped a truck on New Highway 68 near the Quality Inn in Sweetwater after they saw Dominick Brown driving it and knew his license was revoked. Rinehart said when he approached the truck he could smell what appeared to be marijuana coming from inside of it and when asked about it, Brown admitted he had the drug with him. Rinehart said a search of Brown turned up 10 grams of suspected marijuana in his back pocket. He then gave then permission to search the truck, saying there was meth in the floorboard. Rinehart said they found shards of meth in a broken light bulb in the front floorboard and more in another lightbulb in the backseat. They also found digital scales, resale baggies and money. A check showed Brown was currently out on bond on drug related charges ib McMinn County. Under the new articulation agreement, graduates of Cleveland State’s Associate of Applied Science in Business Management program can apply eligible credits toward a Bachelor of Business Administration through Bryan College Online.
