Cleveland, TN Businesses and Property Owners: $200,000 Available for Facade Improvements
On November 9, 2023, Tennessee Governor Bill Lee and Stuart C. McWhorter, the Commissioner of the Department of Economic and Community Development, announced that Cleveland, Tennessee, is one of 17 communities to receive Downtown Improvement Grants. Cleveland was awarded the maximum grant of $300,000 for streetscape and commercial façade improvements. The city plans to use $100,000 for streetscape enhancements under the Downtown Beautification Initiative. The remaining $200,000 is available for property and business owners in the approved district for their improvement projects.

Extremely rare bird spotted in Chickamauga Lake
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — A rare bird species that lives in the North Pacific Ocean was spotted at Chickamauga Lake over the weekend. The Ancient Murrelet feeds mostly in offshore water over the North Pacific, out of sight of land. The Cornell Lab of Ornithology said the best way to see these birds is to take a sailing trip during the non-breeding season.

Dick graduated from ERHS in 1976 before going on to the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga where he studied Political Science. Dick worked for the Chattanooga Free-Press and the Chattanooga Times Free Press for 22 years. Free-Press Sports Editor Roy Exum plucked him out of production in 1989 and gave him a job as a sports reporter. Dick covered everything from prep sports to the whitewater events on the Ocoee River for the 1996 Olympics. When Chattanooga's two paper's merged, he became the Crime Reporter covering both the Chattanooga Police and Fire Departments. He was among reporters who were honored by the Associated Press for the TFP's coverage of the 2002 fog-shrouded crash on I-75 in Catoosa County, Dick and his wife, Cathy, live on Marlboro Avenue where they are seen frequently chasing around their three grandsons.
