Dollar General to open store with fresh food at Five Points in Davenport
DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) - Fresh food is coming to Five Points. DG Market at 1777 N. Division St. in Davenport is expected to open this spring. The former CVS is under construction now and will become one of Dollar General’s new DG Markets that offer produce, refrigerated and frozen foods, dairy products and fresh meat alongside its general goods.

Iowa 80 Truck Stop opens new distribution center
WALCOTT, Iowa — The World's Largest Truck Stop just got a bit larger. On Tuesday, Feb. 27, officials at Iowa 80 Truck Stop cut the ribbon on the facility's new distribution center. The warehouse has ten loading docks and 251,000 square feet of space. Just under half of that space will be used to house trucking accessories sold on Iowa 80's online store, and the remaining space is open for rent.

Davenport man sentenced on gun charge
A Davenport man was sentenced Wednesday to 10 years in federal prison for possessing a firearm as a felon, according to a news release. According to public court documents and evidence presented at sentencing, Tyrae Ronzell McDonald, 43, was in possession of a loaded firearm with an obliterated serial number. McDonald used the loaded firearm to threaten a woman in the presence of two minor children. McDonald had been previously convicted of felony offenses, including two murder convictions, and was prohibited from possessing any firearms or ammunition.

Rare February tornado touches down in Northern Illinois Tuesday night
ANNAWAN, Ill. — Several days of record warmth, including nearly touching 80 degrees on Tuesday afternoon helped set the stage for a rare late February tornado in the Quad Cities region. This is only the second time since 1950 that the region has experienced tornadoes during the month of February. Ironically, the first occurrence was in February of 2017, another year that featured record warmth during the month with multiple days logging temperatures into the 70s.
