The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation is planning two construction projects in Buckingham that should ease traffic flow while improving safety conditions, according to the agency.

PennDOT seeks public feedback regarding Route 202 and York Road roundabout construction

Before proceeding beyond the current phase, PennDOT is soliciting resident feedback for the proposed Route 202 and York Road roundabout construction project through a virtual public meeting.

This proposed project consists of two locations: the Route 202 and Route 263 intersection, and the Route 202 and Route 413 intersection.

According to PennDOT, the proposed project at the Route 202 and Route 263 intersection includes rebuilding the existing T-intersection, installing safety lighting; constructing new stormwater processes and building sidewalks, outlets to multi-use trails and building Americans With Disabilities Act-compliant crossings.

For the the proposed work at the Route 202 and Route 413 intersection project, PennDOT intends to create a dedicated right-turn lane; improved left lane approaches; reconfigure the traffic lights for the new lanes; and replacing guardrails.

"The purpose of the project is to reduce congestion and the number and severity of potential crashes at the intersection," read a portion of the project's website. "Additionally, the project will improve the operations of the intersection, emergency vehicle access and mobility, and the absence of pedestrian access within the area of the intersection.

"PennDOT invites the public to attend a live virtual public meeting for the safety improvement project on Tuesday, May 21, beginning at 7:00 p.m., by clicking on this Microsoft Live Teams meeting link prior to the presentation start time."
