Conference to help employers turn generational differences to competitive advantage
Some organizations are struggling to navigate a work place where multiple generations collide daily over values, communication styles, and expectations. The Generational Differences in the Workplace Conference is set for 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Oct. 30 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Perrysburg, inviting business leaders, human resources professionals, and community organizations across the region to explore both the challenges and opportunities of a multigenerational work place. The conference will examine today’s multigenerational work force and provide strategies to improve communication, strengthen leadership, reduce conflict, and increase employee engagement. The program features nationally recognized keynote speaker Tim Elmore, founder of Growing Leaders, along with Willie McKether, president of WLM Cultural Communications and professor of anthropology at the University of Toledo. “For the first time in modern history, as many as five generations are working alongside one another,” Mr. McKether said in a release. “Each generation brings valuable experiences, expectations and ways of communicating.” The goal of the conference, he said, is to help organizations move beyond stereotypes and build work places where those differences become a competitive advantage. Human resources professionals attending the conference may earn 6.5 professional development credit hours. Individual tickets are $225 per person for one

Scott Equity Exchange Co, Gearing Up for Harvest!
With the completion of the “New Bin” as showcased in a previous article this year, Scott Equity Exchange is looking forward to a productive harvest season. With construction complete, General Manager Sadie Litzenberg states, “What excites me about our new bin is that it is the first of a 3-phase outlook of expansion for the co-op. Our long-term plan is to add another 500,000-bushel bin, 40,000-bushel wet bin, and grain dryer as “phase 2”. The final phase will be to demolish the original elevator and uphill pit. Once that is done, we will have room to update the dry fertilizer and chemical building. This new building is just the beginning of a long-term vision from myself and the board members and will take quite a few years. In the meantime, it will mean quicker turn-around times during harvest, separate lines for soybeans and corn, and the obvious extra space for grain to accommodate our vision of Scott Equity Exchange being able to help more growers.
