Shane Leininger, 34, 1222 Schultz St., Defiance, pleaded not guilty to strangulation, a third-degree felony; and two counts of domestic violence, each a fourth-degree felony. A pretrial hearing was scheduled for May 9 and he was given a personal-recognizance bond. Eric Martin, 26, Van Wert, pleaded not guilty to strangulation, a second-degree felony; disrupting public services, a fourth-degree felony; and domestic violence, a first-degree misdemeanor. A pretrial hearing was scheduled for May 2 and his bond was continued. Montize Carter, 27, Napoleon, pleaded not guilty to illegal conveyance of a drug of abuse on the grounds of a detention facility, a third-degree felony; and possession of drugs, a first-degree misdemeanor. Defiance preschooler is left on school bus, driver resigns
TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - An investigation is underway in Defiance after a preschooler was left on a school bus Thursday April 11. Defiance City Schools Superintendent Robert Morton confirmed the information to 13 Action News. Morton added the incident is under investigation by the Defiance Police Department and Defiance County Job and Family Services.
Storms Roll Through Northwest Ohio Leading To Reports Of Damage

Storms came through the Northwest Ohio area during the afternoon hours of Wednesday, April 17th. These storms brought with them high winds, very heavy rains, and lightning. Luciano Zepeda, 31, Stryker (CCNO), pleaded no contest to three counts of aggravated possession of drugs (methamphetamine), third- and fifth-degree felonies; and two counts of failure to appear as required by recognizance, each a fourth-degree felony. He was found guilty of each. He was given a 40-month prison term with credit for 139 days served in jail while his case was pending. New GAGA Ball Pit for Payne Elementary
The Payne Elementary PTO used earnings from the fall fundraiser to purchase a GAGA ball pit for the playground! This is something the students have been wanting for several years, so the PTO was excited to buy it. They would like to thank the students and families who participated in the fundraiser, the anonymous family who donated the wood, and Scott Strahley for putting together the gaga ball pit.
