Fresh off honors, Moore and Stockade Seelster set to begin again
Hightstown, NJ — After being named Canada’s Trainer of the Year in February and a member of the Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame Class of 2024 a week ago, Dr. Ian Moore is set to kick off a new season this weekend with a slate of races that include millionaire Stockade Seelster visiting Miami Valley Raceway for Saturday’s $100,000 Pacey “The Wizard” Mindlin Memorial.
National 3-point shooting leader Koby Brea becomes the 5th transfer this week to land at Kentucky
Koby Brea, who led the nation in 3-point shooting for Dayton, will play his final season at Kentucky. Brea announced his decision on social media Wednesday and is the fifth player this week and sixth overall to be signed out of the transfer portal by new coach Mark Pope. Brea shot 49.8% on 3-pointers last season and will have one year of eligibility with Kentucky. Brea averaged 11.1 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game for the Flyers and was named Atlantic 10 sixth man of the year for a second time. “By the numbers, Koby Brea is the most efficient mid-to-high major player in college basketball in the last decade,” Pope said. “He’s the best returning shooter in college basketball next year. Koby is a dangerous, dangerous man who is a great human with an incredible family. He will be key in allowing us to play the style of basketball that we love the most. Koby and this group are going to take Big Blue Nation on an incredible ride.”
Centerville, Springboro win Wednesday in Reds showcase games
FAIRBORN, OHIO (WKEF/WRGT) - The 2024 Reds Futures High School Showcase continued Wednesday with games at Wright State's Nischwitz Stadium. Four GWOC teams had the chance to play on the home field of the defending Horizon League champion Raiders. Centerville used a strong second inning to set the tone in their 11-0 win against Wayne, while Springboro won 6-1 against Miamisburg. Having been named the Most Valuable Players of their respective games, the Elks' Ryan Muchmore and the Panthers' Zach Gardner each received custom Louisville Slugger Bats.

Patriots top Hurricane on WHS senior night 11-4
WILMINGTON — Dayton Carroll put a damper Thursday evening on Wilmington’s Senior Night with an 11-4 victory on the Hurricane baseball field. After Wilmington scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning, Carroll sent 12 batters to the plate scoring six times in the second, added one more in the sixth inning and four more runs in the top of the seventh.
