Another dominating win for the Brookeland Lady Wildcats
The Brookeland Lady Wildcats showed a second dominate performance in their second playoff game and easily defeated the Wells Lady Pirates 14 to 0 in game one of their Area Round series. This is the second playoff game that Brookeland has not allowed their opponent to score in the game.

Polling locations will be Mount Olive Baptist Church on North Main Street, Parnell Elementary School on Park Lane, Jasper City Hall on South Main Street, and Jasper High School on Bulldog Avenue.

Jeneatta Faye Lopez LeBlanc, 83, of Brookeland passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2024 peacefully at her residence. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at 4:00 p.m. at Lakeside Church in Brookeland, Texas at 9790 Us Hwy 96 North with interment to follow at Simpson Cemetery. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Friday, April 26, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and again on Saturday from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the church.

BEAUMONT, Texas — A 39-year-old Jasper man is standing trial this week in Beaumont for allegedly abusing a paraplegic woman who had once been his girlfriend. Opening statements began just before 1 p.m. Tuesday afternoon in the trial of Leon Cauley, Jr., 39, of Jasper, who is standing trial on several charges in Jefferson County's 252nd District Court before Judge Raquel West.
