Man arrested in double hit-and-run that killed woman on LI

NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – A second driver was arrested on Tuesday in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash involving a woman who had already been struck by another driver on Long Island, according to police.

Suffolk County Police arrested Jairo Carrillo-Perez, 28, the second suspect who was allegedly driving a 2004 Honda southbound on Wicks Road in Brentwood when he hit the victim.

The fatal hit-and-run happened on Monday at around 5 a.m. when a 2020 Toyota Highlander struck the victim who was crossing from east to west. The first driver then fled the scene.

The victim was taken to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore where she was pronounced dead.

Luis Vasquez, 59,  was identified as the first driver and charged with leaving the scene of a crash resulting in death.

Following an investigation, police determined that the victim was hit by a car, driven by Carrillo-Perez, while she was lying on the street.

Both Vasquez and Carrillo-Perez were charged with leaving the scene of a crash resulting in death.
