Man, 24, fatally shot in East Flatbush; 2 suspects in custody

NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) — The NYPD has two people of interest in custody after a 24-year-old man was shot several times on Saturday evening and succumbed to his injuries.

Police responded to a 911 call reporting a man shot at the intersection of 54th Street and Church Avenue in East Flatbush at 8:43 p.m. and found a man with multiple gunshot wounds to his abdomen, officials said.

He was shot while sitting in a vehicle, sources told 1010 WINS/WCBS 880.

The 24-year-old was rushed to Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center, but he couldn’t be saved. Authorities said that his identity will be released following notification of his family.

Police have taken two suspects into custody in connection with the shooting.

A source familiar with the case said that one of the people in custody was carrying a firearm.

The shooting comes one week after Anthony Lancaster, 40, was shot to death at the corner of E. 52nd Street and Clarkson Avenue, also in the 67th Precinct. Three days before that, 45-year-old Gamaliel Oliver walked into Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center with a gunshot wound to the abdomen, but did not survive.

According to the latest NYPD data , by April 21 there had been seven murders in the 67th Precinct in 2024, two more than the same period last year.

The investigation is ongoing.
