Audubon man dies in a Dallas County motorcycle accident
(Dawson, Iowa) – A man from Audubon County died Friday afternoon, when the motorcycle he was riding collided with a pickup truck west of Dawson, in northwestern Dallas County. The Iowa State Patrol reports a 2017 Dodge RAM pickup driven by 64-year-old Gary Bugger, of Boone, was traveling west on Highway 141 at around 1:30-p.m., and attempting to turn left onto C Avenue, and in doing so, turned into the path of an eastbound 2010 BMW motorcycle operated by 56-year-old Daniel Royce Beattie, of Audubon.

On November 30, Jeffery Heater, 40, from Fort Dodge, was arrested on several charges including Theft 1st Degree, Control Of Firearm/Offensive Weapon by Domestic Abuser, Criminal Mischief 1st and 2nd Degree, and two counts of Possession Of Burglars Tools.

Past Perry Mayor George Soumas's father, Pete, ran this shoe store and repair shop for many years. The family even lived above the store. I remember other shoe stores in Perry. For many of us, we had one drug store, shoe shop, pharmacy, etc., that our family shopped at the most frequently. The staff at our stores knew us and our family. I shopped at Eddy's Shoe because a friend and schoolmate of mine, Dennis Leslie, worked there. I later ran the shoe department for Montgomery Ward. Where did your family shop for shoes in Perry?
Caring Christmas Food Drives This Week
Raccoon Valley Radio’s Caring Christmas is continuing, with several food drive broadcasts this week. Monday from 3-5pm there will be a broadcast at the Perry Fareway sponsored by Raccoon Valley Bank, and from 4-6pm there will be a broadcast at the Adel Fareway sponsored by Fuller’s Petroleum. Tuesday there will be three broadcasts, one hosted by Green County High School from 9-11am, the second hosted by the Perry Hy-Vee from 3-5pm, and the final one hosted by Adel Winterset TV and Appliance at the Winterset Hy-Vee from 4-6pm.
Perry Chamber Announces Lighted Parade Winners
A holiday tradition was in full effect with the Perry Chamber’s Lighted Parade. Perry Chamber Director Lynsi Pasutti says it was an overall success. “I think that we had a really great turnout both on the number of floats and the creativity of floats, and then also the turnout from the community that came out to enjoy the parade. So just a big ‘thank you’ to everyone involved that kind of helped carry on this festive tradition.”

Fifth place finish for Rams at Ogden dual tourney behind two wins by two points
Greene County went 3-2 on Saturday at the Ogden Dual Meet Wrestling Tournament to finish fifth among 10 teams. The Rams had a first round bye, then overcame a 24-3 deficit to nip Woodward-Granger, 38-36. A 57-24 victory vs. East Sac County (Lake View) came next followed by losses to Regina Catholic (Iowa City) 53-27 and to Algona by a 71-12 count. The fifth place match was against the host Bulldogs and the Rams won 35-33 to improve to at 5-5 in dual meets on the season.
