Colorado defensive back Shilo Sanders is all the talk after his decision to declare bankruptcy was reported on Friday. This follows a 2015 lawsuit from when Sanders was in high school.

The lawsuit stems from a security officer at the Focus Academies high school Triple A Academy, where Sanders attended, who alleged in 2015 that Sanders attacked him while he was giving disciplinary action to Sanders after he was being disruptive in class, according to legal documents obtained by Westword .

According to court filings, that case went to trial in 2022, but Sanders did not appear for the trial. The court deemed Sanders liable for the security officer's injuries, and the state court ruled he should pay $11.89 million.

According to the security officers' attorneys, that amount has not been paid. Sanders filed for bankruptcy, disclosing nearly $320,500 to his name in December 2023, which has now called into question Sanders' NIL earnings.

Fans on social media did not hold back on Sanders. Some attacked his father, Colorado head coach Deion Sanders, while others went after the defensive back and his actions.
