Colorado and quarterback Shedeur Sanders continue to be in the spotlight after some questionable social media decisions.

Head coach Deion Sanders and Shedeur have been under fire lately after the Colorado quarterback took shots at former defensive back Xavier Smith. Smith transferred to Austin Peay, earning Freshman All-American honors, and later transferred to UTEP.

The program has also seen another mass exodus via the transfer portal, much like last season. The Buffaloes lost more than 20 players to the portal in the month of April alone.

Despite all the players who have transferred out of the program, Sanders is one of the remaining veterans. After the spring game, Sanders was asked about mentoring quarterbacks Destin Wade and Ryan Straub.

Sanders preached the importance of keeping your head up to the young quarterbacks in the room at Colorado.

“Oh, it’s good. I feel like we got a group of guys that listen often,” Sanders said. “I told Ryan, don’t get discouraged. Because, like some things, it’s just not great matchups, you know? So just about a process-driven game. You can’t always worry about the result in his game, because if you focus on just the results, you never gonna (grow). A lot of things change often."

He's told them to play their game. With all the different looks a defense could give you, it's important to stay true to that.

“Sometimes you may have one-off blitzes, one-off coverages, and you won’t be able to get in if you hang your hat on that. You won’t be able to be successful because you won’t be able to look past that," Sanders said. So, I encourage the guys overall to play their game like how they are, be natural with it. And I just give them some insight on basically how I see different things.”

Wade and Straub may have a long way to go, but it helps to have a veteran like Sanders.
