Shooting News: Comer takes 8th at WA Junior Indoor Rifle Championships
SPOKANE — Kootenai Valley Jr. Rifle team member Kyalynn Comer took eighth at the Washington State Junior Indoor Rifle Championships on March 9. This match was 120 shots, taking 40 shots in each of the prone, kneeling and standing positions. A single-shot .22 rifle was used at a distance of 50 feet. To score a ten, a shooter must hit a dot, about the size of the period at the end of this sentence using iron sights.
Mudslide in Moyie caused by water line break, water conservation issued
MOYIE SPRINGS — When the city's main water line broke early Sunday morning, it caused a several hundred foot mudslide and led the city to declare a local state of emergency. The 55-year-old pipe broke sometime early Sunday morning Moyie Springs Public Works Superintendent John Nelson estimates 700 to 800 gallons of water a minute gushed from the line for five to six hours, causing the mudslide that sent tons of earth into the canyon of the Moyie River.

Seventh grade hoops finished the season undefeated
BONNERS FERRY — The future looks bright for Bonners Ferry boys hoops, as the seventh-grade boys basketball team won the 76th annual Bonners Ferry Tournament and finished the season undefeated, 10-0. As the No. 1 seed the Badgers had a bye in the first round and then defeated St. Maries 54-30. In the championship game, they faced Priest River and claimed a 59-39 victory.

BONNERS FERRY — Boundary County’s three sheriff candidates gave their pitch to voters on March 21 to a packed Bonners Ferry High School gymnasium. Organized by the Panhandle Republican Women, the debate resembled more of a question-and-answer session than a true debate, as candidates did not have back-and-forth discourse, nor address other candidates in their answers. It is estimated that between 400 to 500 people were in attendance.
