City Authorizes Investigation Into Complaint Against Chief Hurt
The Harrodsburg City Commission had authorized an investigation into a citizen’s complaint against Harrodsburg Police Chief Tim Hurt. At a special-called meeting on Tuesday, May 7, the city commission voted unanimously to authorize the investigation. At the last regular meeting, City Attorney Norrie Currens announced the city has taken steps towards holding a public hearing on a complaint filed by Jennifer Kazimer against Hurt.
Burgin, Mercer Celebrate High School Rankings
U.S. News and World Report have released their school rankings, and Burgin Independent High School and Mercer County Senior High Schools are both proud of their rankings. U.S. News and World Report based their rankings on several factors, including college readiness—calculated by the proportions of 12th graders who took and earned a qualifying score on at least one AP exam. Earning a qualifying score is worth three times more than just taking the test—as well as state assessment proficiency, state assessment performance, underserved student performance, college curriculum breadth and graduation rate. The data are based on the 2022-2023, 2021-2022 and 2020-2021 academic years.
5K Community Dog Walk And Bark In The Park On Saturday, May 11
Critters Without Litters is hosting two events this weekend. On Saturday, May 11, they will host the 5K Community Dog Walk at Anderson-Dean Community Park from 8 to 10 a.m. and the Bark in the Park at Old Fort Harrod State Park from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Both events are fund-raisers for Critters Without Litters, a nonprofit agency that has been providing low-cost spay and neuter services in Mercer County since 1989.
