Danville High School junior Maggie Schommer, who scored a perfect score of 36 on the ACT standardized test, was recognized at the April 22 Danville Board of Education meeting.

“I was really excited,” she said about the news. Her family is also excited and proud, she said.

After scoring a 34 last year as a sophomore, she said, “I kind of figured I’d score somewhere in that area, but I did not imagine a 36 at all.”

She said that before testing, she takes the often-encouraged advice to get a good night’s sleep and eat breakfast, and she also runs through some math formulas to brush up on her knowledge.

As far as higher education opportunities in her future, she isn’t sure yet where she wants to go, but she has subjects in mind that she wants to study, as well as some regions of the country where she’d like to look into attending school.
