It also marked the return of the watchful eyes of law enforcement. Officers from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) made 16 arrests during the <a href="https://www.palmbeachpost.com/story/news/local/boca/2024/04/26/boca-bash-wild-boating-party-on-lake-boca-raton-florida/73468015007/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank"> event at Lake Boca </a> , according to Palm Beach County court and jail records. Those arrested face charges ranging from boating under the influence to possession of a controlled substance. FWC spokesperson Arielle Callender said the matter is under review and more information will be released when it becomes available. <nbtemplate data-id="AdPlaceholder" data-content="JTdCJTdE"></nbtemplate><h2 class="presto-h2 exclude-from-newsgate wp-block-heading"> Boca Bash draws up to 10,000 people to waters off Boca Raton </h2> Since its inception in 2007, the Boca Bash has grown into the county's largest unofficial water celebration, attracting anywhere from 6,000 to 10,000 participants to Lake Boca on the final weekend of each April. The event, which has no affiliation with the City of Boca Raton, has become synonymous with being a day of boating and consuming alcohol. Police did not specify their enforcement plans for this year's event, but said they would be watching for signs for overcrowded boats and impaired boat operators, both of them hazards to public safety. While drinking on the water is legal in Florida, operating a vessel while intoxicated is not.
