Trader Joe's plans 2 new New York stores. See where they're going

Two new Trader Joe's stores are planned for New York, expanding the popular grocery chain's presence in the state. The California-based retailer announced plans this summer to open new locations in the Syracuse area and Yonkers as part of its latest nationwide expansion. The plans add to the company's growth in New York, which includes a Long Island store that opened earlier this year. The expansion comes as Trader Joe's continues to draw shoppers with its private-label products and competitively priced groceries. Where are the new Trader Joe's stores? According to Trader Joe's, the two planned stores will be located at: Camillus: 3515 W. Genesee St., in the Syracuse area. Yonkers: 2482 Central Park Ave. The Camillus store, located just west of Syracuse in Onondaga County, will be about 9,000 square feet and become the area's second Trader Joe's. The existing Syracuse-area store is at 3422 Erie Blvd. E. in DeWitt. The Yonkers location will cover about 10,000 square feet. When will the new Trader Joe's stores open? Trader Joe's has not announced opening dates for either New York location. Spokeswoman Nakia Rohde said new stores typically open within three to six months of being announced. New York Mets legend opening BBQ restaurant in Albany

Retired New York Mets outfielder Mookie Wilson is opening his first restaurant in Albany, bringing South Carolina-style barbecue to the Capital Region. Mookie Wilson’s Legacy BBQ is scheduled to open Nov. 6 at 42 Eagle St., serving lunch and dinner in the former War Room Tavern space. The restaurant represents the first standalone location for the Wilson family’s four-year-old barbecue brand, which previously operated as a mobile catering business and had a presence at Citi Field during the recent baseball season.

Bill Murray spends Halloween at a Yonkers bar

It was a treat, not a trick at Rory Dolan's in Yonkers when actor/comedian Bill Murray showed up on Halloween. The McLean Avenue bar is continually festive — owner Rory Dolan hosts a party no matter what night Halloween falls on, but this being a Saturday, it was particularly celebratory. And all the more so when Murray came in with two friends, ate dinner (he had rib-eye and a nice bottle of wine), and later, helped pour Guinness from behind the bar. Food: It's Halloween season, here's where to eat in Sleepy Hollow, Tarrytown Dolan said he was friendly with customers, many of whom approached him to talk about their favorite movies of his. Dolan, meanwhile, discussed golf courses around the world with him, including prime spots in Ireland. Murray also told Dolan he wanted to check out his place because of its reputation as having great energy. Murray's sighting, which Dolan displayed on his restaurant's Instagram page, was the latest in a string of celebrity spottings this fall. J-Lo was seen at Coffee Unique in Bronxville getting coffee while New York Knicks Point Guard Jalen Brunson, a Scarsdale resident and Laughing Horse regular, was seen in Harrison.
