BINGHAMTON, NY (WIVT/WBGH) – On Saturday, Investigators from the Binghamton Police Department, assigned to the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services Gun Involved Violence Elimination (G.I.V.E) initiative, say they conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle reported stolen from Port Authority of N.Y. and N.J. Police Department.

The traffic stop was in the area of Rolison Street and Water Street.

During the traffic stop, police say a 17-year-old juvenile fled the vehicle on foot; he was pursued and apprehended.

Investigators say from the juvenile, they confiscated a loaded 9-millimeter “ghost” handgun, and a high capacity 9-millimeter handgun magazine.

A “ghost” handgun is an unregistered and untraceable homemade handgun that is not marked with a serial number.

The 17-year-old man is charged with criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of a firearm, and obstructing governmental administration.
