CAN launches Cambridge Waterfront Development survey
CAMBRIDGE, Md. – There’s been a lot of talk about what will be done with the Cambridge Waterfront. Locals are launching a survey to find out what the community wants from the land. The Cambridge Association of Neighbors tells us one suggestion was to move the YMCA to the waterfront. But, some residents are questioning whether a non-profit that doesn’t generate public revenue would be the best fit for such an attractive plot of land. Chuck McFadden tells us that other residents believe the current location of the YMCA allows it to better serve the community as it is more towards the center of the city rather than on the edge.
A. James & Alice B. Clark Foundation to Match Donations for Emergency Services Training Campus
The A. James & Alice B. Clark Foundation has announced that it will match donations made to the Friends of the Easton Volunteer Fire Department’s (EVFD) Public Safety Capital Campaign for its Emergency Services Training Campus in Easton, Maryland through September 30, 2024. The Clark Foundation’s match includes all private and local donations made until Friends of EVFD reaches its $5 million fundraising goal. To date, $3 million has been raised, including a $1 million investment from the Clark Foundation in September 2023.

GREENSBORO, MD - Kids in Greensboro are going head to head with police and town commissioners in an effort to build positive relationships with town leaders. The initiative is part of a 13-week program aimed at fostering better connections between teenagers and local authorities. CAMBRIDGE — Dorchester County’s proposed $86,523,125 fiscal year 2025 draft budget is a balanced budget, County Finance Director Karen Tolley said at a council meeting May 7. “We’re excited about that,” said Tolley, who is also the mayor of Church Creek. Vehicle fire breaks out in parking lot off Airport Road
EASTON — A vehicle fire broke out in the parking lot of Technology Commons at 2900 Information Ln. Friday afternoon. Easton Volunteer Fire Department, St. Michaels Fire Department, Cordova Volunteer Fire Company, Talbot County Emergency Services and the Easton Police Department were all on the scene. Paramedics with Talbot County Emergency Services said they were dispatched to the fire at 2:24 p.m. The vehicle was a Magothy Electric Company van. The fire was extinguished at about 2:45 p.m. On the scene, the department put down absorbent to prevent the spread of fuel from the vehicle.
