Active-duty Marine arrested in Silverdale, WA attempted kidnapping case
SILVERDALE, Wash. - An active-duty Marine was arrested after allegedly grabbing a 12-year-old girl and attempting to abduct her in Kitsap County, authorities say. Kitsap County sheriff's deputies arrested 20-year-old Timothy N. Caldwell on Nov. 4 at a Silverdale apartment complex. Caldwell, an active-duty member of the U.S. Marine Corps, is charged with attempted second-degree kidnapping and assault.

Silverdale man accused of attempted kidnapping near Ridgetop school
A Ridgetop Middle School student was allegedly accosted by a 20-year-old man who lives in a nearby apartment complex on Monday, before an online search led to the man's arrest for attempted kidnapping and assault. According to a probable cause statement for the man's arrest filed in Kitsap County Superior Court on Nov. 5, the man, who was identified as an active duty member of the Marine Corps, was initially seen standing on the sidewalk near a large apartment complex around Ambercrest Way and Ridgetop Drive. The 12-year-old victim had exited a bus from nearby Ridgetop Middle School, the student told her mother and later Kitsap County Sheriff's Deputies, when she saw the man was holding a phone and appeared to be recording her. The suspect then asked the student for directions to a nearby Shell station, located just a few blocks north. The man then followed the child, according to the student's statement in a Kitsap County Sheriff's Office incident report, grabbed her backpack with one hand and placed his other hand on her back, and said "You're coming with me." The girl then punched at the man away and ran, but stopped momentarily to take a photo of

No-contact warning issued for Silverdale shoreline due to sewage spill
A no-contact advisory has been issued by the Kitsap Public Health District from Silverdale Waterfront Park to Old Mill Park due to a sewage spill. An estimated 660 gallons of sewage spilled into Dyes Inlet on Thursday, Nov. 5, as reported by Kitsap County Public Works. The advisory will stay in effect through Nov. 12. The spill was the result of an unexpected break at a sewage pump station, according to Kitsap County interim Public Works Director Chris Piercy. The public health risk comes primarily from fecal matter in the sewage, which can contaminate the water and cause diseases for those who come in contact, according to the health district. Officials advise against entering the water or engaging in any water-related recreation. There will be warning signs visible at public access points, such as the shoreline entry point at Waterfront Park.
