Osseo track and field takes 3rd in Monticello
The Osseo boys’ and girls’ track and field teams hopped on busses and rode them to Monticello for the Monticello Invitational. There was some strong gusts of wind behind the backs of the runners but everybody competed in the same conditions so the playing field was level. Monticello won the boys’ meet while Alexandria won the girls’ side. Osseo took third on both fronts. The boys scored 128 and the girls scored 114.5. ...
Monticello athlete Luke Emmerich talks recruiting after recent offer run
Monticello (Minn.) athlete Luke Emmerich is having a big track season, which led up to 10.69 in the 100-meter dash last week. At 6-foot-1, 195 pounds with that speed, he is seeing interest increase rapidly. He's received offers in the last week from places like Washington, Wisconsin, Nebraska, Michigan State, USC and now the in-state Golden Gophers. He spoke with 247Sports about his recruiting.
Fifth grade country concert
The fifth-grade class at Maple Lake Elementary School performed a “country concert” at the high school auditorium on Tuesday, April 22 for family and friends. Their set list included full group performances of popular country western songs including “Should’ve Been a Cowboy” by Toby Keith and “Ring of Fire” from Johnny Cash plus solos from Eliza Nordling and Robert Peterson. Nordling performed “Fur Elise” by Ludwig Van Beethoven and “Colors of the Wind” from the movie Pocahontas and Peterson performed “Frightful Night” by Melody Bober. The group sings “God’s Country” by Blake Shelton.
Mock crash comes to MLHS
If you hear sirens and sounds of a helicopter landing at the public-school next Wednesday morning, May 8, don’t be alarmed, it’s just a simulation. Maple Lake schools in partnership with Safe Communities of Wright County, Irish Mentors and numerous other local agencies will hold a mock crash for Maple Lake High School students in anticipation of the statistically deadliest time of the year for young drivers – summer vacation.
Prom night under the light
