Top five star cornerback recruit down to LSU, Georgia, Oregon, and wild card programs heading into summer

One of the most highly coveted cornerback recruits in the nation is about to kick off a month-long journey making visits to top programs around the country. DJ Pickett has been considered a top tier recruit for multiple years now and is approaching the final stages of his recruiting process.
Pickett is set to visit LSU (5/31), Georgia (6/7), Miami (6/14), and Oregon 6/21 on four consecutive weekends coming up this month and is fresh off an unofficial visit to Florida. But which schools are truly the most likely to land his services? And is he really worth the five star hype?
DJ Pickett locked in five star status
Pickett has been ranked inside the Top-12 recruits for the 2025 class since the summer before his sophomore season began back in 2022. Now it seems his five star status is all but locked up. 247Sports and On3 just released their new five star recruit rankings and Pickett was featured on both. 247Sports kept him in almost the exact same spot he's been ranked for over a year now (9th), as you can see in the post below.
Pickett is a multi-sport athlete who plays baseball, basketball, and runs track on top of being able to play both sides in football. He was his team's most explosive wide receiver averaging more than 20 yards per reception as a sophomore on top of developing into one of the best defensive backs in the nation.
If he wanted to Pickett could legitimately be the next Travis Hunter. Pickett likely plays more defensive back in college, but he's talented enough to play wherever he wants. So where will he play his college football?
Top Schools in the mix for DJ Pickett
DJ Pickett is your typical five star wide receiver who loves basking in all the of the attention. Despite clearly having his favorites, Pickett doesn't shy away from posting himself in the gear of many different college teams. This spring it seemed Pickett's recruitment was fairly wide open , but based on his priority visits heading into the summer it's clear he's down to just a handful.
LSU gets to host him first on May 31st. The Tigers desperately need new young defensive backs to step in immediately for them. Pickett would become the face of their 2025 recruiting class on the defensive side of the ball to partner with Bryce Underwood at quarterback on the offensive side. Pickett has already visited the Tigers twice this spring.
Georgia hosts him next, but they haven't had a ton of public traction with him since last summer. Unless he's blown away, this visit may just be a formality to make sure he stops by the top program in football.
Miami might have an ace up their sleeve thanks to Pickett's cousin Booker who just joined the Hurricanes in the 2024 recruiting class at edge defender. Family ties and his two visits there recently certainly suggest he may be leaning towards Miami.
But then Oregon looks like they get the final word with him to end the month of June. Dan Lanning is building a monster of a 2025 roster already on the offensive side of the ball, but needs a crown jewel on defense. Pickett's made it clear he likes the staff there, and has seen them twice this spring too.
Florida continues to stick around in Pickett's recruiting battle this spring despite all the negative noise surrounding that program. Pickett loves the cornerbacks coach Will Harris and has been rather vocal about his positive experiences there as well.
It really likely comes down to five programs. However, LSU, Oregon, and Miami likely lead the way with two visits already this spring, immediate playing time opportunities, and other specific ties like family. Georgia and Florida are still technically in it, but they seem just a bit less likely at this point. We'll be back with any official updates as news is revealed.
