Toddler struck in hit-and-run on Harry Drive, brought to hospital in stable condition
BATON ROUGE — A toddler was brought to the hospital Friday after being struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run on Harry Drive, Baton Rouge Police said. The two-year-old was struck by a vehicle on Harry Road near North Carrollton Avenue and was found unconscious in the street. The child was brought to a hospital after emergency officials were called and is stable, BRPD said.

Three arrested after Baton Rouge traffic stop ends with I-12 pursuit in Livingston Parish
LIVINGSTON — Two adults and a 13-year-old juvenile were arrested after a traffic stop in Baton Rouge ended with a pursuit through Livingston Parish on Interstate 12. It was around 11 p.m. on Tuesday, July 23 when Baton Rouge Police officers stopped a driver. During that stop though, officials tell UWK that the driver took off and got on Interstate 12 headed into Livingston Parish.

Two arrested after person shot, robbed during sale in Port Allen
PORT ALLEN - Two people were arrested after a person was shot and robbed during an attempt to sell an item, according to the West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office. Deputies say the shooting took place Tuesday, July 23 in the Rebelle Lane area of Port Allen. The victim, who suffered non-life-threatening injuries, reported that he had attempted to sell an item through an online marketplace when the suspect brandished a handgun, robbed him, and shot him in the leg.
'Career offender' sentenced for drug trafficking charges after agents buy dozens of grams of heroin
BATON ROUGE - A man was sentenced to 160 months in federal prison for drug trafficking charges amid an investigation into drug trafficking circles around the parish. Officials called Timothy Franklin, 40, a "career offender" in a release sent out Friday morning announcing his sentencing. Franklin was convicted for four counts of distribution of heroin.

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — A Louisiana police officer was killed this week during a hostage and standoff situation, the Lafayette Police Department said Friday. In a statement on its Facebook page, the department identified the officer killed as Senior Cpl. Segus Jolivette, a SWAT negotiator. The husband and father of five joined the department in November 2013 and had served as a school resource officer in the past.
