In its 100 years of life, so much has changed for Lyons Specialty Co. A Port Allen wholesale distributor to more than 600 convenience stores across Louisiana, Mississippi and Arkansas, Lyons Specialty’s product lineup is much wider than when the firm opened in 1923. Its fresh food business has exploded in the last decade. It had to reinvent itself in 2020, moving into personal protective equipment distribution at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.
15-year-old arrested in shooting that killed 1, injured 2, BRPD says
A 15-year-old boy was arrested Thursday in connection to a triple shooting last week that left an 18-year-old dead, according to Baton Rouge police. Police said Lenni Douglas, 18, was shot the night of May 31 on the 4100 block of Prescott Court and died at the scene. Douglas was trying to stop a fight between an ex-boyfriend and the new boyfriend of one of the other shooting victims, according to officers.

BATON ROUGE - Police aim to make a second arrest weeks after a belligerent Baton Rouge mom was booked for an accidental shooting that sent two children to a hospital. Arrest documents say Baton Rouge police are now looking to arrest 22-year-old Jahavez Taylor, the owner of the "draco" gun that injured the two boys. Police believe the weapon was left out on the kitchen counter when the children, ages 3 and 6, found it.
Popeye's employee arrested for attempted murder after shooting coworker
BATON ROUGE - A man was arrested for allegedly shooting at a coworker following an argument at Popeye's on O'Neal Lane. The Baton Rouge Police Department said two employees got into an argument around 10:30 p.m. June 1. According to arrest documents, Kieran Johnson, 21, followed the victim outside of the restaurant and shot at him twice. The victim then ran to a nearby business for help.
Trooper performs CPR on injured man for 17 minutes, saving his life
BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - A Louisiana State Trooper is being hailed as a hero for saving a man’s life after he performed CPR for 17 minutes. On June 5, Sgt. Trey Bellue was on a routine safety inspection of an 18-wheeler when the driver, Thomas Taylor, experienced a medical emergency.
