Coos Bay man sentenced to more than 8 years in prison for stabbing, attempted kidnapping
COOS BAY, Ore. – A 40-year-old Coos Bay man was sentenced to more than 8 years in prison last Friday as part of a plea deal for an incident last October in which he stabbed a man and attempted to kidnap the victim’s girlfriend, according to the Coos County Sheriff’s Office and court records.
Coquille man arrested on the charge of DUII after crash
On April 21st at 8:30 p.m., the Coos County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center received a report of a single-vehicle crash on Fairview Road near milepost 11. Fairview Fire, Coquille Ambulance, and Sgt. Boswell from the Sheriff’s Office responded to the crash. The driver was identified as Tony Florez (20) of Coquille. He had some minor scratches but was otherwise uninjured. During an investigation, Sgt. Boswell had Mr. Florez perform the standardized field sobriety tests and later arrested him on the charge of DUII. Tony Florez (20) was transported to the Coos County Jail for additional testing. Mr. Florez was issued a citation for DUII and released to a sober adult.

Bandon man arrested on several charges after a report of a domestic assault
On April 20th, 2024, at 7:00 a.m., the Coos County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center took a report of an assault that had occurred on Astor Lane just south of Bandon, Oregon. Deputies S. Starr and H. Francis responded and began investigating the incident. As a result of the investigation, Deputy S. Starr applied for and was granted a search warrant for the suspect, Shawn M. Brown’s (56) residence. The warrant was executed, items of evidence were seized, and Shawn M. Brown (56), who was inside, was arrested. Mr. Brown was charged with Assault IV Domestic, Menacing, Strangulation, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and Resisting Arrest. Mr. Brown was transported to the Coos County Jail, where he was booked and remains in custody.

North Bend Fire and Rescue (NBFR) saved someone from a very hairy situation this weekend. Zero, an energetic rottweiler puppy, took off on an unexpected detour on Saturday morning.
