Hard Freeze With Lows of 21 to 28 Degrees Likely for Columbus, Dayton, Mansfield, and Akron as Bitter October Cold Ends Growing Season Sunday Morning
OHIO — Bitterly cold air is settling over Ohio, and a hard freeze is likely across most of the state Saturday night into Sunday morning, October 18. Temperatures could plunge to 21 to 28 degrees in the coldest areas. Readings like these are more typical of midwinter than mid-October. The cold arrives just days after summer-like temperatures earlier this week. The freeze could bring an abrupt end to the growing season across much of the region.
