FIRE CREWS CALLED EARLY YESTERDAY TO WHITE TOWNSHIP HOME
Fire crews were called out early yesterday morning to a home in White Township. Indiana County 911 reported the call went out at after midnight for a structure fire on Route 110 near Lutz School Road. Indiana, Clymer and Creekside fire departments were dispatched along with the RIT Team and Citizens Ambulance. Indiana fire officials say that the homeowner was outside when they arrived, and said an electric space heater in the basement had malfunctioned, and that caused a small smoldering fire that filled the house with heat, soot and smoke.
Senior center director charged with theft, second director charged from nonprofit
WESTMORELAND COUNTY, Pa. — Rocky Jo Yeager, 53, is charged with stealing from the senior centers she was hired to help. Yeager was director of Laurel Valley Senior Center, with facilities in New Florence, Ligonier and New Alexandria, when police said she stole more than $4,000. According to court papers, police said Yeager wrote herself checks and made unauthorized purchases with the non-profit corporate credit card.

SPRING CHURCH MAN KILLED IN CAR CRASH TUESDAY MORNING
A Spring Church man died in a crash on Route 156 in South Bend Township yesterday. State police say that 22-year-old Nicholas DiFilippo, Jr. of Spring Church was driving East on Route 156 when for an unknown reason, his car crossed into the opposite lane and collided nearly head on with a truck driven by Jacob Edge of Wilmore. DiFilippo was declared dead at the scene, while Edge suffered suspected minor injuries and was taken to Indiana Regional Medical Center.

KOVALCHICK CORPORATION MAKES DONATION TO IRMC HEALTH CENTER
Another major Indiana County Corporation has announced their support for a new mental health facility for Indiana Regional Medical Center. Representatives of the Kovalchick Corporation announced this week that the company has contributed $500,000 to be put towards the new 31,000 square foot mental health center on the campus of Indiana Regional Medical Center. The new facility will address the mental health needs of the area, which have skyrocketed since 2020. The facility will be made up of 44 beds and will care for adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.
