FIVE FIRE COMPANIES CALLED OUT FOR BRUSH FIRE IN ARMSTRONG TOWNSHIP
Multiple fire departments were dispatched for a brush fire in Armstrong Township yesterday. Indiana County 911 reported the brush fire at 2:08 PM on Lacey Lane east of Shelocta. Elderton Fire Department was first called to the scene at that time, but at 2:11 PM, Indiana, Creekside and Iselin Fire Departments were called in to assist. Plumville fire department was also called in at 2:36 PM. Marion Center firefighters were called in shortly after that for standby detail.
Woman dies, 10-year-old hurt in Derry Twp. accident
A woman died and a 10-year-old child was injured in a traffic accident Monday afternoon in Derry Township, Westmoreland County. The Westmoreland County Coroner identified the woman as 49-year-old Regina Endress of Indiana County.
BUSY WEEKEND FOR INDIANA COUNTY FIRST RESPONDERS
As the snow started to fall Friday night, Indiana County’s first responders were busy with several incidents within 24 hours. The first incident was reported around 8:00 PM as Cherryhill and Pine Township fire departments were dispatched to a location on Pine Flats Road for what was classified by Indiana County 911 as an “unknown-type fire.” That was followed by a two-vehicle accident reported on Route 286 East in Glen Campbell Borough at 9:42 PM. Another accident occurred on 286 West in Young Township, around 11 PM.

BLAIRSVILLE BOROUGH APPROVES READVERTISING GARBAGE ORDINANCE
On Tuesday night, Blairsville Borough Council approved readvertising the borough’s garbage ordinance. The ordinance states that garbage cans cannot go out until 3:00 PM the day before garbage is scheduled to be picked up, and cans are to be removed from the front of the house after the garbage has been picked up. Councilman Ab Dettorre said that this is being done as a reminder to the public.

Feb. 21—JOHNSTOWN, Pa. — The Johnstown Fire Department will soon once again have its own training facility to use within the city. The three-story, six-pod red metal structure is being reinstalled by JWF Industries this week on a piece of ground near Murdock and Oak streets in the Hornerstown neighborhood.
