(Atlantic) Crews are worked in the Atlantic area cleaning up debris and repairing powerlines after a violent wind storm swept through the area on Tuesday evening between 6:25 p.m. and 6:35 p.m. The National Weather Service in Des Moines reported 59 mile-per-hour wind gusts at the Atlantic Municipal Airport. A large tree snapped, blocking Plum Street a few blocks north of Atlantic High School. Another tree snapped and severely damaged a van parked in Atlantic.

We are hearing reports of damage in Oakland. Tree limbs are down, shingles blown off a roof.

We are also hearing reports of branches down in Greenfield in Adair County. As the wind storm blew to the northeast the National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning for northeast Cass, southeastern Audubon, Guthrie, and Adair Counties.
