Celebrating 11 years of local foods, crafts
The Knox County Farmers’ Market (KCFM) is gearing up for the opening of the market’s eleventh season on Thursday, April 18. To kick-off the season, the KCFM Board will hold a Vendor Appreciation Potluck Dinner from 5-7 pm, Thursday, March 28 at the Knox County Extension Service in Barbourville. The annual dinner is an opportunity for current, and new vendors, to sign up for the 2024 market and to socialize before the season begins. Vendors interested in joining the KCFM are welcome to attend the dinner to learn more about the market and apply. Anyone planning to attend the dinner is requested to RSVP to Mary Beth Jewell, Market Manager, at 606-627-1810 no later than Monday, March 18. It is important for all current and new produce vendors to attend the dinner in order to sign up to be eligible to participate in the WIC and Senior food voucher program as the deadline to register is April 1 and the market manager will be submitting all applications on March 29.

Two Georgia men facing charges after chase
CLAY COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) - Two men were arrested after officials with the Clay County Sheriff’s Office found cash and meth on them after a chase. The incident happened at approximately 2:00 a.m. Tuesday when an officer reportedly tried to pull a car over on Kendall Boynton, of Dalton, Georgia, and Cedric Shropshire, of Calhoun, Georgia.

6-year-old suffers serious burns in garbage fire explosion
MIDDLESBORO — The family of a 6-year-old East Pineville boy is asking for prayers from the community after he suffered serious burns in an accident at his home. While garbage was being burned at a residence on Charlie Smith Road, just off Highway 119 on Feb. 20, the fire exploded unexpectedly, with debris hitting the 6-year-old and his 33-year-old mother.
