MIDDLEBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) — One person was killed and three others were injured early Saturday in a Massachusetts house fire, officials said. Fire and police were called to a house fire in the town of Middlesborough around 2 a.m. with people trapped inside. With fire coming from the first and second floors, firefighters were unable to get inside the home. After the fire was contained, authorities found a juvenile female dead inside.

On Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at approximately 5:50 am Knox County Deputy Jeremiah Williamson responded to a complaint of a man acting suspiciously in the Legacy Ford Dealership parking lot on Cumberland Gap Parkway in Corbin. When Deputy Williamson arrived at the dealership, he observed a man - later identified as 20-year-old Matthew E. Gray of Corbin - attempting to gain entry into a vehicle.
Police Make Arrest in Whitley County Church Burglary
The Williamsburg Police Department and Whitley County Sheriff’s Department say officers have made an arrest in a church theft case. Police say 39-year-old Brandon Gonzalez, of Williamsburg, tried to use a check he stole from a church to buy items at Walmart. Gonzalez was taken into custody at his home after a brief foot chase. Police said the incident began when Gonzalez burglarized the Hanging Rock Baptist Church in Whitley County. In addition to stealing a check, police said the church was damaged from Gonzalez breaking in. Police said additional evidence was found at Gonzalez’s home. Gonzalez was served with two bench warrants and was charged with running from police, burglary, possession of burglary tools, criminal possession of a forged instrument and tampering with physical evidence. Gonzalez was lodged in the Whitley County Detention Center.
