    Small plane crashes alongside Florida road with 2 on board

    TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Two people were aboard a small plane that crashed along the side of the road in Florida Wednesday morning.

    The plane went down near the intersection of Shelby Industrial Drive and General Electric Road, just south of Orange Blossom Trail in Apopka around 11:30 a.m., according to the Federal Aviation Administration.

    The FAA said the plane, a single-engine Piper PA-32, made an emergency landing after the pilot reported engine failure. No injuries were reported.

    Footage from WESH’s chopper shows part of the plane’s wing was damaged.

    The FAA and the  National Transportation Safety Board will investigate the crash.
