Town officials ordered the mandatory evacuation Wednesday afternoon after finding the fire alarm and sprinkler system inoperable. “We’ve been told it could take up to a couple of weeks (to make repairs),” said Bill Sherman, of Allies For Justice Schenectady County, a volunteer organization that’s been providing assistance for migrant families since they moved into the Super 8 in July 2023.

Four juveniles arrested in separate Cohoes crimes
Cohoes Police have arrested four juveniles in two separate incidents on Wednesday. Officers responded to the area of Imperial Avenue around 11:40 a.m. for a report of two juveniles attempting to steal a vehicle. A witness told police they tried to get in and start the engine without a key. They left on foot into a wooded area. Following a brief search, officers arrested two 15-year-olds. They are facing a potential charge of grand larceny.
