Black River will hopefully be undergoing some significant changes in the near future. The problems with sedimentation in black river have been happening for decades. “As you can see, the sedimentation is growing gigantically. This sand here used to be the river, the mouth of the river used to be sixty, seventy, eighty feet wide, now it’s 25 feet wide. In 2022 the DNR received a grant to fund a study to find a solution to the constant drudging in black river, to solve the sedimentation issue at the mouth of the Black River. The solution would be the installation of two jetties, one on the north side, one on the south side, protruding in the lake, approximately seven hundred and fifty feet,” Black River Waterways Committee Chairman, Dan Gauthier said.

I just kept them like two extra weeks, and actually, they wouldn’t take a bottle because their eyes were already open. So I offered them dishes of milk and then, pellets and different greens and we just nursed them back to health and let them go” said Michelle Sobek, Owner of Nature’s Kingdom Conservation.
