Sterling Heights man charged for allegedly firing gun at another vehicle while driving, injuring 1

WARREN – A 24-year-old Sterling Heights man is facing multiple felonies for allegedly firing multiple gunshots at another vehicle and striking a front-seat passenger. Police say Mohammad Kheir Aamer Al Krad was driving in Warren on Sunday, Nov. 1, when he fired in the direction of the other vehicle. The victim suffered nonfatal gunshot wounds and was transported to Henry Ford Warren Hospital for treatment.

Former sheriff employee's immigration searches referred to prosecutor

The Oakland County Sheriff's Office has referred an investigation into one of its former employees who used their Flock camera network to do immigration searches to the local prosecutor's office. A Detroit News investigation revealed a former OCSO employee performed at least 58 immigration-related searches of the sheriff's camera network in February. OCSO Public Information Officer Tyler Sweers confirmed Friday, Nov. 6 that the former employee went to work for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) after leaving the sheriff's office. Sweers confirmed the sheriff's office had forwarded the results of their investigation into the matter to the Oakland County Prosecutor's Office on Thursday, Nov. 5. Law enforcement agencies typically refer a case to prosecutors if they believe there is enough evidence for criminal charges. The sheriff's office did not provide additional comment. Jeff Wattrick, spokesperson for the Oakland County Prosecutor's Office, declined to comment. OCSO's license plate reader policy says the valid uses for license plate reader data are to let officers know about a vehicle on a "hot list," to find a criminal suspect or to find a missing person. Warren man and 11-year-old son recovering after accident while cleaning a handgun

WARREN, Mich. (FOX 2) - A 37-year-old man and his son are in the hospital after an accident while attempting to clean a handgun in Warren. The incident happened on Berkshire Avenue at around 9 p.m. on Wednesday. Police say the man ended up getting shot in the hand and the bullet hit the 11-year-old boy's leg. McLaren Port Huron acquires Northpointe OB/GYN to expand care

After years of declining access to obstetric and gynecological care in St. Clair County, McLaren Port Huron is working to rebuild the number of physicians serving local patients. The hospital acquired Northpointe OB/GYN in October 2026, the county's only full-service obstetrics and gynecology practice, with plans to recruit additional physicians and expand access to women's health care. The practice, now operating as McLaren Port Huron Obstetrics and Gynecology at 1206 Washington Ave., has four OB/GYN physicians and one nurse practitioner, compared with eight physicians who previously served the area through two practices. Dr. John Brooks, McLaren Port Huron's chief medical officer, said the hospital hopes to eventually restore the number of local OB/GYN physicians to approximately eight. "We just lost a lot of access," Brooks said, referring to physician departures in recent years. For patients seeking a new provider, however, access remains limited. Hannah Collins, office manager at McLaren Port Huron Obstetrics and Gynecology, said the practice is temporarily not accepting new patients while completing its transition to McLaren. The office expects to resume accepting new patients around January 2027, although the timeline is tentative. Existing patients will continue receiving care. Kowalski won't return to prison for murders of brother, sister-in-law

Jerome Kowalski won't return to prison for the murders of his brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Brenda Kowalski, in Oceola Township in 2008. Kowalski was given a sentence of time served by Judge Matthew Stewart in Livingston County's 44th Circuit Court on Nov. 5. Stewart, a judge for the 35th Circuit Court in Shiawassee County, was assigned the case after all local judges recused themselves. Kowalski, 80, of Warren, has long maintained his innocence, arguing his confession was coerced. Man injured in hit-and-run at a Warren White Castle, police say

A man is in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle on Wednesday outside a Warren fast-food restaurant, police said. Officers were called at about 7:30 p.m. to the White Castle restaurant on East Eight Mile Road at Sherwood Avenue for a report of a crash involving a pedestrian, according to authorities. They arrived and found a 33-year-old man suffering from serious injuries in the parking lot, officials said. Medics took him to a hospital, police said. Detectives believe the victim may have been struck by a sedan after an argument with someone, who then fled the area, officials said. Anyone with information about the incident or the suspect driver should call the Warren Police Department at (586) 574-4700. The incident follows other recent hit-and-run crashes in Michigan.
