Officers responded to a domestic disturbance call at Alcoa Inn, 250 Airport Highway, Alcoa, on May 6.

The caller said he witnessed a Maryville man, later identified as David A. Solis, 32, Louisville, yelling at a 32-year-old woman in the lobby.

The caller told officers that the woman, who had a black eye, came into the lobby and said, “Can someone call me an ambulance?”

The caller stated Solis then entered the lobby and allegedly said, “She doesn’t need anything. She’s coming with me.” The caller told officers he told Solis to go outside, but reportedly, Solis picked the woman up and said, “You’re not separating me from my fiancé”

According to the caller, Solis put the woman into the passenger seat of his vehicle. The woman allegedly got out of the vehicle and tried to run towards the motel, but Solis grabbed her, picked her up, put her back in the vehicle and left the Alcoa Inn.

While officers were traveling down North Wright Road, they reportedly saw Solis’ vehicle turn right onto North Wright Road from Cusick Road.

The police report states that officers initiated a traffic stop and asked Solis to step out of the vehicle multiple times. Officers stated that Solis was “extremely agitated” and refused to follow their commands.

Officers stated that Solis allegedly had a pocket knife clipped to the inside of his pants pocket. When asked if he had any weapons, Solis replied no.

According to the report, Solis quickly turned his body toward the woman and officers said that out of concern for the woman’s safety, they pulled Solis out of the vehicle and handcuffed him.

Officers stated that while walking Solis to the patrol vehicle, he allegedly attempted to turn around toward the woman. Officers forced Solis back around and led him to the rear of the patrol vehicle.

The report states Solis became “extremely irate” and refused to get in the vehicle by bracing himself against the door frame.

Officers stated that they deployed pepper spray onto Solis’ upper brow. Allegedly, while officers were placing Solis in the back of the car, Solis kicked an officer in the face.

While in the car, the report states Solis began kicking the door, “causing substantial damage to the vehicle.”

According to the report, officers immediately noticed the woman had a contusion to her right eye as well as “several contusions in different states of healing on her upper chest.”

Officers said the woman allegedly repeated, “He didn’t do this. Don’t take him to jail.”

The report states she then threw up and asked for an ambulance due to severe abdominal pain.

AMR arrived and treated the woman. Officers said a paramedic allegedly told officers that the woman’s “entire upper body was covered in bruises; upper chest, chest, stomach, rib cage, and upper arms.”

Paramedic also reportedly told officers that they believed the woman had several broken ribs. The report states the woman was transported to Blount Memorial Hospital, and officers said she sustained a right facial fracture, rib fractures and a sternum fracture.

Solis was arrested and charged with false imprisonment, resisting arrest, assault against a first responder, vandalism and aggravated assault.
