Rollover Accident in Guthrie County; Scranton Woman Ejected from the SUV
(Guthrie Co) Two people were injured in a single-vehicle rollover accident in Guthrie County last week. The Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office says the accident happened February 15th at 12:35 p.m. on Frontier Road. 43-year-old Eric Ireland, of Scranton, was driving a 2017 GMC Acadia southbound when he crossed the center line, crossed the northbound lane, and entered the east ditch where the SUV struck a field entrance, went airborne, landed nose first and overturned onto its top. The front seat passenger, 35-year-old Bridgette Perez of Scranton, was ejected through the windshield and landed on the ground. The vehicle vaulted over her, missing her by mere feet. Eric Ireland was also not wearing his seat belt and landed upside down on the interior roof of the SUV. Perez and Ireland were transported to the Guthrie County Hospital by Stuart EMS and Adair EMS. Both suffered significant injuries, but the injuries are not believed to be life threatening. A juvenile female, born in 2014, was in the back seat of the SUV restrained in a car seat and was not injured.

Adair County ISU Extension Holding Judging Training for Fair Events
The Adair County Iowa State University Extension and Outreach is looking for individuals interested in judging county fair events. There will be three Evaluate, Educate, Encourage 4H Judges Training courses, all to be done online. This is a general training for new judges, or seasoned judges looking to update and maintain their knowledge. All trainings will be held live on Zoom, and those interested in taking the training can pick whichever of the three dates that works best for them. The first training will be next Monday from 6:30-8pm. The next two will be in March on the 21st and 26th, both held from 6:30-8pm. To register, visit this link.

Stuart Man Facing Several Charges
A Stuart man is facing multiple felony and misdemeanor charges. According to court documents, the Adair County Sheriff’s Office responded to an alleged domestic disturbance at 2:12am on February 12th at a residence in the 1300 block of Stuart Road. The victims told the deputy that a verbal argument turned physical as 46-year-old Lee Goll threw a bottle at the TV and ripped the TV off of the wall and threw it across the room.

(Guthrie Center) The Guthrie Center School Board is pleased to announce that Mr. Tandem Eischeid has been appointed as the new PK-6 Principal for Guthrie Center Elementary. Mr. Eischeid has 16 years of teaching experience and has spent the last seven years as a fourth-grade classroom teacher at Grant Ragan Elementary School in the Waukee Community School District. ADAIR, Iowa — A small-town Iowa police chief plans to appeal hisconviction in a case involving the purchase of machine guns. Prosecutors say Adair police Chief Brad Wendt abused his position to purchase more than two dozen machine guns and illegally sold guns he bought for the department at the gun stores he owns.

West Central Valley School Board Approves Draft of 28E for Full-Time School Resource Officer
The West Central Valley School Board met in regular session Wednesday night. The Board heard administrative reports, discussing how they wanted to move forward with the structure for the Activities Director position, and heard an update on the search for a high school principal from Superintendent Rusty Shockley, who told them that in the first week of the search, they had 10 applications for the position. They approved the 500 series policy review, amendment to the 2023-24 calendar, and set a public hearing for the 2024-25 school calendar for their next meeting on March 20th.
